Always a GOOOOOOOOD Time
May 31, 2020, is the 31st year of Conscientious Musical Revues. CMR, an IRS C 3 organization, seeking to improve the quality of life in low income, African American, and Latino economically disadvantaged communities by increasing access to quality performing arts programs. Our Board has 1 Latino and 4 African American members; performers are African American. CMR participants range in age from 55-95 with 90% in their 70s.
Since FY 1990/91, CMR sponsored 1,913 free programs for 539,968 youth and families. CMR performs at Night Outs, health fairs, and Center Holiday parties and celebrations. All presentations have a high amount of audience participation. Shows educate audiences on how they can get involved in the arts by promoting arts education programs and free or low cost performances.
Conscientious Musical Revues Golden Treasures project has improved the quality of life of NYC low income residents since 1989. The strategy of the Golden Treasures project of creating an atmosphere of fun and excitement at Neighborhood Senior Centers is important. The Healthy Brain and Body Component reduce the risks of frailty and dementia by offering dance and drama/improvisational classes. CMR’s Golden Treasures project supplement programming at existing NYC Senior Centers.
